Veteran TV producer Aaron Spelling used to be notorious for micromanaging the details of his shows. Time was, if an actress wanted to alter her hair color or style, she did so by committee! Seems he's easier-going these days, since Charmed star Rose McGowan dyed her 'do red without asking permission first - and lived to tell the tale! If anyone could pull it off, surely Marilyn Manson's ex - who's recently been linked with Eve 6 frontman Max Collins - has the chutzpah to do it. See, when she replaced Shannen Doherty in the witchy TV trio last year, she wasn't thrilled that all three sisters were expected to wear look-alike brunette coifs. So, she rebelled and turned redhead. "The hair color was my conscious decision," she tells TV Guide Online, "and it was my decision that all the sisters did not, in fact, have to look alike. I have sisters, and we have blonde, red and brown hair all naturally. So there is proof on the planet that all sisters don't look alike. "I decided to do it in my off time," the 29-year-old adds, "and told them to explain it by saying that a spell had blown up in my face and turned my hair red! That's pretty much exactly what they did, so it worked out well." Taking risks - follicular and otherwise - does fit her wacky Paige character. Meanwhile, McGowan seems to have fit in well on set. But don't ask the sassy diva if she's bonded like family with her TV sibs. Such queries clearly bore her. "Alyssa [Milano] and Holly [Marie Combs] are great," the actress sighs. "We're more pals - we play sisters. Everyone always asks if we hang out after work. There really isn't an after work. There's an hour and a half to pretty much go home, learn your lines and come back. I actually spend a lot more time with them than I do with my real sisters." |
